2026-2027 Applette League Rules

1. The Applette League will be Sanctioned by USBC and Kearney USBC and will comprise of women and men bowlers. The league will consist of 5 teams with playing strengths of a combination of four men and women. The league will bowl on Thursday night for 30 weeks beginning on August 27, 2026 and ending on April 15, 2027. This year the City Tournament will be held on the week of February 11,2027 on you regular bowling night. We will not bowl on Thanksgiving November 26th, Christmas December 24th and New Years December 31st.
2. The league may start practice at 6:20pm and bowling will start at 6:30pm. The league will use the standard 9 point system for scoring. Lineup for team members will be from lowest to highest average. The additional members will be placed in the lineup as the person of the one being replaced until an average of 3 games is established and then will be placed in the lineup accordingly. If two people have the same average, the one with the lower pinfall will be placed ahead of the other bowler.
3. Each team will designate a captain who is responsible for the following: (1) Be sure each member is sanctioned (2) Make necessary changes in the weekly lineup (3) Remit envelope to Sec/Treasurer by the end of the 5th frame of the first game (4) Complete and sign recap sheet verifying scores and points (5) Captains will draw for lanes on the first night of bowling (6) Captains must notify Sec/Treasurer of changes in their team roster.
4. League bowling fee will be $17.00 per bowler. Lineage is $13.50, Sec fee is $.25 and Prize fund is $3.25. All league funds will be deposited in the Big Apple banking account. Two signatures (Pres and Sec) are required for withdrawals of funds.
5. Sponsor fee is $30.00 per team to be paid by the end of October. It will be used to purchase 1st and 2nd place certificates. From the balance, 60% for 1st place and 40% for 2nd place will be awarded.
6. The Applette league will be sanctioned through USBC. Sanction Fee is $27.00 and must be paid on the first night of bowling. Bowlers who are sanctioned in another Association must complete a Sanction Card and pay the Local dues of $10.00.
7. All bowlers will establish new averages on the first night. Handicap will be based on 90% ofthe difference between the average and 200. All bowlers will establish their average after 3 games.
8. Teams must make up no earlier than one week prior and no later than one week following the missed night.
9. Each team may have up to 6 members on their roster. Minimum of 2 regular bowling are required for legal lineup or they must forfeit. Substitutes may fill the vacant spot. Emergency roster changes are left to the discrepancy of the Exec. Board.
10. Late bowlers may enter the current game provided the 4th frame has not been started. Then the proceeding frames may be make up. If arriving after that, a blind score must be used. The late bowler may bowl in the subsequent games. Full fees for three games are due.
11. When pre-bowling or post bowling games, team will be required to fill their score sheet completely, including current average, handicap and team totals. A blind score will be used for an absent member which is the bowlers' average minus 10 pins. In the event of a forfeit or an uneven number of teams, teams scheduled against the forfeit or the bye team cannot automatically win the points. Team must earn the points, thus, an individual must bowl their average less 10 pins per game. High scratch score is awarded to the team who is bowling. Points won by the non-existent team will be recorded on the roster as unearned.
12. The league games will be divided in to two halves with a position round at the end of each half. Each half will have a winner. In the event of a tie, a 10th frame roll-off will be held. Roll off for the season will be held on fun night or can be scheduled at a different time. If bowled on fun night, teams in the roll-off will not be eligible for fun night prizes. Roll-off will be figured with handicap using a 9 point system. Fun night will be held the week following the last scheduled night of bowling. Prizes for fun night will be taken from the prize fund at the discretion of the fun night committee. The balance of the prize fund will be divided among the teams according to games won. Positions nights will be December 10, 2026 and April 15, 2027.
13. The extra team members are allowed in the bowling area but must remove their street shoes. Other guests must remain behind the bowling area. Talking on cell phones in not allowed in the bowling area except in an emergency. If a bowler leaves the premises for any reason,they must remove their bowling shoes or wear a sufficient covering on the shoes.
14. Must be 18 years old to bowl.
15. Applette league shall abide by all other USBC rules not covered herein.
16. Substitutes are allowed for position round and roll off but are required to have least bowled a total of 6 games.
